7 top skills you need in today’s world
The world is changing at a magnanimous speed every day. From fashion cover styles to tech gizmos, when nothing seems to last more than a season in this new era, how can we expect to use the same age-old skill-set and thrive in future? Here are some top skills to help you stay on top of the trends...
1) Financial Literacy
Money is power. As a result, the majority of us have a long-term goal of accumulating wealth. However, goals cannot be achieved without hard work. This is where financial knowledge comes in handy. Having a financial planner to help you budget your expenses, track your bills, and plan your investments is a survival skill that will help you thrive.
2) Emotional Intelligence
Gone are the days when IQ was the primary qualification for a well-paying job. Today, emotional intelligence (EQ) is everything. As companies strive to improve their customers' User Interface and Experience (UI/UX), tapping into the user's brain necessitates a set of skills that traditional IQ tests do not reveal. The key word to look for here is empathy.
3) Setting Priorities
We have everything, but GenZ is known as the "eternally broken generation." At times, we fail to prioritise relationships, friendships, work, and even ourselves. Having set priorities allows you to assess the need of the hour and make long-term changes. But first and foremost, you must establish your moral compass so that you are not hurtful to anyone.
4) Time Management
The only secret here is the age-old practise of planning your day ahead of time. Take 5 minutes before going to bed to schedule your day in your Google/Apple calendar. Make time for family and yourself, as well as small things like going for a walk around the block. Try out the calendar for a week or so and keep editing it to improve its effectiveness. The key word here is flexibility.
5) Communication Skills
Humans are social beings, and communication has long been thought to aid in our survival. It was used by early humans to teach and learn survival skills. Our emotional, mental, and physical needs cannot always be met on our own. Communicating your message clearly and concisely is a top-tier skill that will help you grow in the professional world as well. We write down our thoughts more often than we speak them. Writing them out clearly benefits everyone, including yourself.
6) Tech Savvy
The world is changing as a result of technology, and you must adapt as well. Given how common technology is, we can't really expect to find tech support for things like Zoom and WhatsApp every day. We are expected to be familiar with them. It's similar to how you feel when your grandparents need your assistance with their old phone. This is THE survival skill to learn, no matter what.
7) Self Discipline and Self Care
It takes 20 years of hard work to be an overnight success.
Nothing long-term can be accomplished unless you are disciplined in your goals. Exercise, proper nutrition, and other such habits are developed over time. When it comes to self-care, a good night's sleep and good hygiene are a good place to start, and it can progress to retinoids and the latest serums on the market.
With that, we hope you would have gained something to add to your new skill sets to master.
Hope you have a wonderful time learning and exploring!
